Whenever a page on your website does not load, an error message shall be displayed to the site visitor. As there are different errors, there are different pages which will appear, but what's standard for all of them is that they are generic and probably shall have practically nothing that resembles the layout of your website, which could be irritating for any website visitor. That is the main reason why hosting service providers have introduced a function referred to as Custom Error Pages. For a number of different errors, site visitors will see your custom content, which can be informative or witty, based on your choice, and that will match the overall style and design of your site, so the pages shall not appear as if they are not part of your Internet site at all. You may use this option for many errors - 400 (Bad request), 401 (Unauthorized), 403 (Forbidden) and 404 (File not Found).
Custom Error Pages in Hosting
You will be able to set up custom error pages for all of your domains or subdomains. The feature is supported by all hosting solutions that we offer, so once you log in to your Hepsia CP and navigate to the Hosted Domains section, you can easily click on the Edit button for a domain/subdomain and in the pop-up that"ll show up, you can select the type of error page which should show up - a default one from our system, a conventional Apache web server page or a personalized one. For the last mentioned option, you will need to specify the URL to the page, so when you use custom pages, you should upload the files in your website hosting account first. An alternative way is to use an .htaccess file placed inside the domain or subdomain folder with a line for every error type. The correct syntax can be found in our Knowledge Base, so that you can use this feature even if you do not have any previous experience.
Custom Error Pages in Semi-dedicated Hosting
All Linux semi-dedicated hosting services which we supply support custom made error pages and it will not take more than a couple of clicks in your Hepsia website hosting Control Panel to use this functionality. The option is included in the Hosted Domains section of your CP in which you'll need to input the links to the custom-made files through very simple drop-down menus and an intuitive interface. Needless to say, you should upload them to your account before that. If you do not need to use this function at some point, you can easily disable it just as quickly and select an Apache server page or a default page from our system to be shown whenever your visitors encounter an error. If you'd like to, you could also use an .htaccess file to activate the personalized error pages. The file should have a particular line of code as well as a link for each error type and you can easily discover an example of the whole content for all four error types in our Help section.
